Random Rant #9

Safe in the knowledge that nobody sees this, I feel free to be more free. I have a communication breakdown / failure and I'm not sure it is worth fixing. I remember it being worth fixing in a distant emotional past / future, but at the moment it is sapping away all my energy and leaving me empty. Better to let the wound heal than keep picking at the scab. Better to forget all about this, accept the communication meltdown and live life as it is. Who are you to be messing with my head anyway? F@ck off and leave me in peace!
There is a reason there are no images here. There is a reason for everything, but sometimes nobody knows or understands it. A new labyrinth of words is unfolding, unfurling, recurling itself. Hitting the keys almost at random is a relief. This is not my first language but it is easier for me. Language is one of those mysterious devices that makes us human. Language, music, art, these are the things that divide us from animals. Why do we need them so much when they don't? Whose idea were they in the first place? Could it be true that we evolved as human beings through the aid of hallucinogenic mushrooms that played havoc with the wiring in our brains? Could it be that a drug made us human?

Human...
Human......

I am obsessed with the concept lately. I am obsessed with how we have manage to set up such an elaborate artificial environment. This has gone way beyond a nest. We try to control our surroundings - to a large degree, we have succeeded. Our average life expectancy has more than doubled. Our infant mortality rate is very low for a mammal.

And yet...

What have we done? Through medicine, we have completely destroyed the process of natural selection. We have enabled biologically unfit individuals, such as myself, to live and procreate. To pass on their unfit genes to future generations. No wonder mysterious illnesses are becoming increasingly common. No wonder most children suffer from allergies and asthma. By rights, they wouldn't be alive.

The science of survival.

Survival of the unfit.

Hereditary conditions and diseases on the rampage, since symptoms can be controlled.

And the proposed solution? Fiddling with people's genes. Solution, as in a weak salt solution? Who pays the fiddler?

Does any of this make any sense?
